Gua Sha is a traditional, manual technique that involves working with a special scraper along the skin to stimulate blood flow and metabolism in the tissue. The method originated in Asian medicine, but today it is also used in modern pain and fascia treatment. The targeted friction releases tensions, activates metabolic processes and supports the natural regeneration of the tissue.
How Gua Sha works
The treatment is carried out under gentle, uniform pressure. This results in increased blood flow, which is manifested by a temporary redness of the skin. This reaction is desired and shows that accumulations and tissue bonds become detached. The body responds with improved microcirculation, oxygenation and detoxification activity. Especially with chronic tension, muscular dysbalances and pain states, Gua Sha can significantly relieve the tissue.
