Brainspotting is a body-oriented, trauma-sensitive approach based on the observation that the view is associated with inner experiences. Certain viewing directions or visual points – so-called brainspots – activate stored memories and emotions. When these points are perceived and held mindfully, the nervous system can begin to process stored tension, trauma energy or overexcitation.Brainspotting was developed by Dr. David Grand and finds application in trauma therapy, stress, pain, anxiety and emotional stress. It works with the body, not against it – in a state of rest, attention and safety.
How Brainspotting Works
The view opens an access to neural networks in which experiences are stored.
As you focus on a particular point in space, the nervous system is gently brought into contact with inner images, feelings and body sensations.
These can organize, reconnect and integrate.
The system regulates itself without having to force anything.
