Chronic pain is persistent or recurrent pain that has persisted for at least three to six months. Often nerve cells react hypersensitively, the pain memory remains active even if there is no injury. Even the smallest stimuli or touches can then trigger pain. The nervous system has learned to "remember" pain, and this is where we start therapeutically.
Many factors can promote the development and maintenance of chronic pain: permanent overexertion, unresolved conflicts, lack of sleep, psychovegetative tension, family stress, lack of recovery or trying to "stay strong" and bite through. Depression, anxiety or stress can also lower the pain threshold
Chronic pain is complex and so should the treatment. In practice, I combine body-oriented, naturopathic and psychotherapeutic procedures.
Physically, I work with microsystem laser acupuncture, reflex therapy, pneumatic pulsation therapy (pneumatron®) and accompanying heat therapy.
Psychotherapeutically, hypnosis, integrative psychotherapy, brainspotting and coaching are used to promote pain processing, stress regulation and emotional discharge.
The goal: less pain intensity, more quality of life, more self-efficacy.
Exercise at individual level, heat-cold change, breathing exercises and mental techniques such as mindfulness can aid the healing process. What matters is that you start working with your body, not against it.
