IFS, in short for Internal Family Systems, is a therapeutic approach that assumes that every person carries different inner parts. These shares have different tasks and try to protect, control or motivate us in their way. Some are injured, others overloaded, others take responsibility to ensure stability. The aim of the IFS work is to understand the relationship with these proportions and to bring them back into a harmonious internal balance.IFS is a gentle and at the same time profound method based on mindfulness, compassion and self-guidement. Man learns to perceive, understand and change inner dialogue. This allows the inner system to reorganize.
How IFS works
In the therapeutic process, attention is drawn to the inner experience. Through targeted perception and internal communication, stressful patterns, old protective mechanisms and emotional injuries can become visible. These are not displaced or analyzed, but recognized in a safe space. When understanding and compassion arise, parts can shed their protective role and the person experiences inner peace, clarity and self-confidence.
