An anxiety disorder is more than nervousness. It is an exaggerated, persistent fear reaction that often no longer needs a real trigger. A phobia is directed at certain objects or situations, such as heights, animals or narrow spaces, and triggers a strong physical and emotional response. Both can significantly burden everyday life.
Fear is a learning process. It arises through experiences, imprints or situations in which one has felt helpless. Genetic factors, stress, overwhelming or stressful phases of life can also increase anxiety. The brain stores danger signals and reacts automatically later, even if there is no threat. This creates a cycle of avoidance and tension that maintains fear.
Therapeutic accompaniment can help break this cycle. The goal is not to abolish fear, but to understand it and change how we deal with it. In working with mindfulness, body perception and inner images, fear can gradually lose its power. Man regains control of his experience, not through pressure, but through understanding and new experience.
